A Season of Renewal
We are in the midst of the Lenten Season and A Season for Peace and Nonviolence. We are also studying the 12 Powers along with our brothers and sisters in Unity around the world. It’s a busy time and whether you are focusing on Lent, Nonviolence or Wisdom (the Power for the month of March) you are being “transformed by the renewal of your mind” (Romans 12:2).
Join us as we explore many avenues for transformation in our New Thought movement. Below are several links to activities that will support you in your commitment to increase your conscious awareness of your divine nature and be born anew this spring.
If your going to give something up during Lenten Season we recommend giving up negativity. Check out A Complaint Free World. A Complaint Free World began in a Unity church when Rev. Will Bowen of One Community Spiritual Center in Kansas City, MO handed out purple bracelets to his congregation. This program has been successfully implemented with great results by dozens of Christian denominations, Jews, Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and more.
We continue celebrating A Season for Peace and Nonviolence. To learn more click here. You can also participate in a meditation experience with the Living Peace Mandala by clicking here.
Finally, we are excited to be exploring the 12 Powers this year. For an introduction to the 12 Powers click here. In January we focused on Faith. In February we looked at strength and this month we are tapping into our wisdom!

Unity of Mohave Valley News
We join Unity centers and churches around the world this year as we explore the Twelve Powers. Each month we will focus on one power. We also refer to these “powers” as spiritual gifts or faculties of Being. This month we are looking at faith. To learn more about Unity and the Twelve Powers visit us on Sunday mornings. For an introduction click here.
We Let Our Lights Shine
Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.”
Our motto for this year at Unity of Mohave Valley was, “Let Your Light Shine in 2009″! This year we have been humbled by the beauty of the shining lights that made up our spiritual community.
We hope as this year comes to a close you are able to see the significance of the light that you have been for Unity of Mohave Valley and for the world. Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.” He didn’t say, “You are the light of the world, sometimes.” As we assess the results of our intentions over the last year, let us remember that we are love. In being love, we cannot help but let our lights shine.
We hope you’ll join us for the Burning Bowl ceremony which will take place on Sunday, January 3, during the regular Sunday morning service. The Burning Bowl Ceremony is a simple process of releasing the old and welcoming the new.
See you this Sunday at 10am!

Keeping the Peace
We hope you enjoyed the 11 Days of Global Unity interfaith prayers. Our formal celebration may have come to a close, but we continue to keep the flame lit in our hearts. We invite you to view this video as a meditation for peace from HeartMath: Click here.
11 Days of Global Unity: A Season of Interfaith Celebration
Friday, September 11th, was the first day of the 11 Days of Global Unity: A Season of Interfaith Celebration, which culminates on International Day of Peace on September 21st. Join the New Thought community as, together with our brothers and sisters of different faiths, we pray for peace. Among the many prayers are Native American, Jewish, Islamic, Sufi, Baha’i, Sikh and traditional Christian prayers.
UNITY’S STATEMENT FOR PEACE
Unity stands for peace in the presence of conflict; for love in the presence of hatred; for forgiveness in the presence of injury. Unity honors the many names for God, the many paths to God, the many ways to worship God; for there is only one power and presence of God and that God loves each one of us equally. It is therefore the position of Unity to urge all nations, their leaders, and their people to turn to God by whatever the name for guidance during these challenging times and pursue peace, not war, for this is what honors the God of all our faith traditions. Unity stands for peace in our lifetime.
Now Is The Time…Join Us!
Recently, we have heard some leaders of progressive, successful organizations say, “We are not participating in the recession.” We applaud that position, knowing that psychology plays an important role in the success of the economy. Unity folks have long known the power that our thoughts and words can have in creating our experiences. That knowledge, that awareness, is one of the things that makes the Unity message so relevant today.
It’s so easy to move into feelings of fear when we look at the facts of the economy (and maybe even the facts of our own personal finances). In Unity we know that in any moment we can choose love over fear. It’s not just a choice, it’s a survival technique in today’s world. Taking a deep breath and bringing our attention from the head to the heart-space is the first step in reconnecting to the reassuring, guiding and prospering power of God’s love that is within us.
If you are looking for a better way, please know that you are not alone and that many, many people have found that better way through applying the Unity principles and teachings. We’d love to support you on your path to personal transformation.
We invite you to view a brief inspirational video from our Association of Unity Churches International. You can view it by clicking Now is the Time on the right side of this page.
Divine Purpose
The other day we heard a comedian say, “Everyone has a purpose in life. Maybe yours is watching television.” Does that joke make you laugh or does it hit too close to home to be funny?
We are here at this time and in this place to discover and to demonstrate our divinity. One of the ways we do that is by choosing our purpose – what brings meaning to our life – and living in accordance with that purpose.
Edwene Gaines, in her book The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity says, “When you choose your divine purpose, you are framing your life with meaning. You are also taking an important step in your spiritual development to demonstrate to yourself that you are a divine being and to prove to yourself that you have the power to affect change – and you are bigger, stronger, more powerful, and more creative than you thought.”
Perhaps you are clear about your purpose in life. Maybe you have lived a long and meaningful life. Maybe the next phase of your journey is to help others identify their purpose.
Wherever you are in this process, we see you guided, uplifted and inspired as you go forth to do what you have come here to do and to be who you have come here to be.
See you Sunday at 10am!
Progress
The world is watching as Iran moves through a painful process. The process that occurs when one faction wants progress and the other wants things to remain the same. Progress is inevitable. With progress comes resistance and, unfortunately, with resistance comes pain.
In Unity we choose to look for the good in every situation. When we look for the good, we find it! And it is with this intention that we pray and hold a vision of peace for the people of Iran. We trust that good is unfolding now! Indeed, we hold that same vision for the world.
As metaphysicians, we look at what is occurring in our world and wonder how that might be a reflection of our inner world. Are you experiencing an internal struggle at this time? During our moments of inner reflection, we discover the places in our lives that could use improvement. Spirit is always inspiring an increased awareness of our Divine Nature. Progress is an outgrowth of that awareness.
I have a bookmark with a little cartoon guy on it and he is saying, “Change is good. You go first!” Yes, progress is the natural process of life and it is only our resistance that makes it painful. We invite you to open your mind and heart to change, internal and external, for as you do you will experience the joy of being in the flow of life. And that is truly what it’s all about.
See you Sunday at 10am!
Movie Night!
We’re excited about sharing a very special movie with you this Friday for Movie Night. The movie is Smoke Signals; a delightful comedy with a deeply profound message about reconciling with your past and healing relationships through forgiveness. You’ll love it!
On Sunday morning we shared this poem from Smoke Signals:
Do we forgive our fathers for leaving us too often, or forever, when we were little -maybe for scaring us with unexpected rage or for making us nervous because there never seemed to be any rage there at all?
Do we forgive our fathers for marrying, or not marrying, our mothers – for divorcing, or not divorcing our mothers?
And shall we forgive them for their excesses of warmth or coldness?
Shall we forgive them for pushing or leaning, for shutting doors, for speaking through walls or never speaking or never being silent?
Do we forgive our fathers in our age or in theirs or in their deaths, saying it to them, or not saying it?
If we forgive our fathers what is left?
Hope to see you Friday at 6pm.
Honoring Our Fathers
Dr. Rocco Errico, one of the nation’s leading Biblical scholars (working from the original Aramaic texts) tells us “Father” means “beloved.” Join us this Sunday for our Father’s Day celebration service and bring your “beloved” or bring his picture and post it on the “Honoring Our Fathers” board.
Happy Father’s Day!
See you Sunday at 10am!
